Fourth in a series of Lighting Studio web uploads, this shot is one of the two final shots for my studio lighting class. The assignment was to shoot at least five items in coordination of each other in order to tell a story, or portray a product. I chose to do a little bit of both, combining the sleek, clean look of the iPod Shuffle with the old and weathered look of my favorite book, “Old Friends are Best”, along with other items to support the theme.
I like the final result, and feel that I accomplished the goal of telling a story with light. This was also my first shoot which utilized the long used principle of “product placement”. Would you like an Altoid? How about an IBC Root beer? As always, this is not the end, so leave some feedback and let me know what you think. Don’t be shy, just do it right here for the whole world to see. Tell me how I’m doing.

Here is a link to all of the pictures that have been shot in the studio this session. These currently are the digital captures, and not any of the film shots. Eventually, I may get the film shots scanned, and posted as well. Thanks again for visiting.

Hey, Ron.
Gorgeous! Love it. Only suggestion, if it fits with your vision, is to keep the whole iPod in focus. Maybe??? The way it is now, makes it feel like I’m supposed to look at the button interface instead of the iPod as a whole. Like that is the “focus” of the shot… whereas it seems like the iPod itself is the focus. Does that make sense?
Anyway, that’s my 2ยข I don’t know if I could’ve done better. Great job!
