Here is the latest from my studio product lighting class, as of last night, (or this morning, whichever you prefer). If you’re thinking these shots look simple, let me tell you…It ain’t as easy as it looks. Ok, it actually is. If you would like, leave some feedback in the feedback section down below. I would love to hear your thoughts on the work.
Oh, and one more thing, in case you were wondering:
Yes, these ideas were totally original.

Where do you take studio product lighting class?
Does it teach you how to set up a home studio?

Alex,
I am currently attending Brooks Institute of Photography, in Santa Barbara California. It is a great school, and I think I am learning more this session (semester) than in any other thus far. I am more than happy to answer any questions you might have about studio photography. That is why I built this site in the first place. Be careful what you ask, though. You might get more info than you bargained for. Where are you located? What would you like to know?

I love the white on white one. The white on black doesn’t appeal to me much, though. I can imagine that lighting white on white is quite challenging. The headphones almost act as spot lights on a stage turning up to the main attraction. They certainly direct the attention to the main subject which is the gadget itself. Good job bro!

Hey Ron!
I like the one on the white… I think it has nice dimension to it. Feels really clean and classy… What is the surface?

Rusty,
The iPod on white is shot on white (not clear) plexi-glass. I got a 25″x50″ sheet custom cut at a local glass shop for about $50. I am not sure how good of a price that is, but it was better than the $100+ other glass shops in town were asking for. Since white plexi is still slightly translucent, I put one large piece of seamless white paper below the plexi just to add extra whiteness.
Thanks for the comments.
