October 2005

At the behest of my wife, I am officially putting in written form my wishes for our family’s Thanksgiving Meal. This is the “plan”, so to speak, and if this is what it takes to satisfy my love, then so be it.

Ok, let’s not dawdle. First, an overview, then the explanation of each item:

• Smoked Whole Turkey
• Sweet Potato Casserole
• Marinated and Grilled Sodalicious Chicken Lettuce Wraps
• Italian Roll Bread
• Senorial carbonated Sangria with Lime (non-alcoholic)

Smoked Whole Turkey:
I hadn’t had Smoked Turkey, sadly, until about 4 years ago. Even more dismal is the memory of the last 4 years without being able to enjoy the tender, smoked sweetness of that glorious meat since. I committed to enjoy the Smoked Turkey every year after that first glorious love affair 4 years ago, but sadly, that commitment fell by the wayside somewhere in between Christmas and Labor Day the following year. I forgot, and time passed, and here we are today, 4 years later, with only a faint memory of the awful goodness that was bestowed upon me at my dear sister’s house one Thanksgiving. Well, the commitment is revitalized today, and hope will prevail. We will have smoked turkey.

Fourth in a series of Lighting Studio web uploads, this shot is one of the two final shots for my studio lighting class. The assignment was to shoot at least five items in coordination of each other in order to tell a story, or portray a product. I chose to do a little bit of both, combining the sleek, clean look of the iPod Shuffle with the old and weathered look of my favorite book, “Old Friends are Best”, along with other items to support the theme.

Here is the latest up-to-date picture. This was shot yesterday on black glass, and was shot using 4 lights. The treatment on the bottle was done just before shooting. This bottle, in case you’re wondering, is an IBC Cream Soda bottle. The embossing on the glass is not raised very far from the glass surface, thus is hard to read in any light. Then add the moisture droplets, and you can say sayonara to seeing any detail in the bottle. This is not meant to be a brand specific shot, just a bottle shot. Do you like it? As always, please leave any comments you might have, or feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for visiting.

Here is a link to all of the pictures that have been shot in the studio this session. These currently are the digital captures, and not any of the film shots. Eventually, I may get the film shots scanned, and posted as well. Thanks again for visiting.

Here is the latest from my studio product lighting class, as of last night, (or this morning, whichever you prefer). If you’re thinking these shots look simple, let me tell you…It ain’t as easy as it looks. Ok, it actually is. If you would like, leave some feedback in the feedback section down below. I would love to hear your thoughts on the work.

Oh, and one more thing, in case you were wondering:

Don’t you just love word games? I can’t get enough of them. That is, until I play one for a few hours.
